Here we have two single beds pushed together to make a queen size, no top sheet, just duvets, and look at the size of those pillows! We bought two decorative pillows just so we can use the cute pillow cases that Marianne made. The girls had the grandchildren's names embroidered on the pillow cases, so we had to be able to snuggle with our cuties!
He re are our teeny tiny canisters holding rice, beans, sugar, oatmeal. These amounts are the very sizes the items come in. Just right for our teeny tiny (one-butt) kitchen! There is no dishwasher but us. The washing machine is in the bathroom and the dryer is here in the kitchen. The dryer is not vented but has an interesting container that collects the moisture from the clothes. Then you pull it out and empty out the water after each use.
Bet you can guess what these two items are: gurkensticks and Miracel Whip! How about having them on a sandwich with some lunchmeat called, schenkinwurst...yum? I looked it up and saw that it was ham. Most meat is called _____flesch....yikes!
The front room is just waiting for the rest of the furniture. The walls are ALL cement, though the bottom half of the kitchen & bathroom are tiled, so hanging pictures or anything else is quite a process. The paint, carpet and flooring is all new which is nice.

Great posts. Glad you figured out how to post with pictures again!
I am so proud of you mom!!! Now you're talkin'! To have 4 blog posts in one day for us to read is such a treat! You did a perfect job. You are used to living in such excess with 2 refrigerators, a gigantic pantry, etc. that this is going to take some getting used to. You'll get used to it and maybe even prefer it because you'll find yourself with more time on your hands with life being smaller and simpler. I want that for you!!! ENJOY it and thanks for the info. LOVE IT!!! Love the pictures too! You'll need to do some stuff to cuten that apartment up to make it homey for you.
What life changing adjustments you and Ken are experiencing. They will eventually become beloved memories. I chucked about your "dumpster diving" because we furnished our apartment by attending garage sales. Families that would leave Alaska to go back to the "lower 48" discovered that it was cheaper to sell everything and buy again rather than ship. We found many great items at unbelievable prices. We looked forward to the few Saturday mornings that we were able to go. When it came to hanging things on our walls, we discovered the removable velcro picture hangers. They worked great and didn't put holes in the wall. That might be a good thing for you, seeing that your walls are cement.
I told the bishop in our ward that I would love to have a calling when we were there but it never happened. I'm a little jealous. Loving your blogs.
How 'cozy' your apartment is! I enjoy reading your blogs and gaining a perspective of life/church there. What a treasure trove of memories you are making!
The pictures remind me so much of the time our family spent in Switzerland. Such great memories! So glad to hear and see how you are doing. Sending prayers your way.
This is so exciting and different! Do you feel like honeymooners again with how simple your apartment is? I can second the velcro picture strips. They are awesome! I think they're usually with the command strip type stuff. Of course, I'm thinking Wal*Mart or Home Depot. Do you have either of those? Good luck!
