Thanksgiving Dinner

Thanksgiving Dinner - Thurs, Nov 26, 2015

Here's the committee: L to R Sisters Marilyn Caracena, Elaine Biddulph, Marjean Anderson, Yvonne Bausman, and me. We started planning for Thanksgiving dinner two months ago.

I was in charge of decorations. It was a lot of work but it was appreciated by everyone. We got the greenery from the cemetery trash pile, then washed it  the bath tub. We collected the chestnuts on our walks, Ken drilled holes, then we strung them on raffia. Favors were 3 chocolates.

This was a rare occasion to use disposable items....but that's what Americans do, right?
If you're wondering how Thanksgiving plates and napkins came to be in Germany...we have our ways...

This turkey was made by Sister Marsha Castleton, nurse for the Frankfurt Mission.

The couple on the left is Bro & Sis Bruce Muir who were here for two months to organize the refugee aid program. He is the director of all disaster assistance for the Church and gave a devotional telling us about it. I will publish the notes separately.

Such a fun bunch of young Elders and Sisters!
They are patiently awaiting their turn to dish up their food.

There were 66 who came to dinner: Senior Missionaries, the young Elders & Sisters who live in our apartment building or are assigned to the two Frankfurt Wards, some of the American employees, and the Stoddards (Frankfurt Mission President).

Sisters Stoddard and Newman (Frankfurt Mission Office)

This was one of the few occasions that we are with the missionaries from the Frankfurt Mission, other than attending the same International Ward.

Program: E/S Sharpe presented a musical number. (He is a former music teacher (jazz band) from St. George.) One young Elder sang a beautiful solo, "Bring Him Home." Several people were invited to share their Thanksgiving memories.

There weren't many leftovers at all...but what else would we expect with the young missionaries there?

A fun day!
