An International Party in the International Ward!
Saturday, October 17, 2015
We've been to international parties before, but this one was the REAL DEAL!
Frankfurt 2nd Ward is one of the largest Wards in Germany and incudes members from 17 different countries! Many of these Church employees working in the Area Office, but others are here for various reasons.
When we hear talks, prayers, and comments in Church meetings, it's always a surprise because you never know what accent you'll hear next! Sometimes the English language is very difficult to understand because the emphasis is on different syllables than we're used to. Of course, most of the missionaries, both senior and junior, are from the USA...with the majority of them being from Utah.
The members of this Ward, not even including the senior missionaries, are such wonderful, spiritual people. The YW/YM give such spiritually mature talks and testimonies! Thiabault (pronounced Teebow), age 15, plays the organ each week for one or two hymns, then goes to pass the Sacrament. He alternates with several others on the organ, so three people take turns during each meeting. Every meeting is a spiritual feast!
Netherlands
This International Party was particularly fun because those who decorated a table representing their homeland were SOOOO proud to show off their countries: clothing, flags, and food (even fingernails decorated in the colors of the flag)!
Italy
Larissa from Russia.
Rita from Hungary (She was in a recent film done by the General RS.)
The Antoines are from France.
Philippines
England and Scotland
A marzipan cake from England.
Sisters Edmunds, Purdy, and Ryser taking turns hosting at the USA table. They served tiny pulled pork sandwiches, potato chips, and pumpkin bars to represent the US.
Karen Maynes, wife of the General Manager of Physical Facilities, is hosting the USA! (The stars on the wall were crocheted by Sisters Pam Dittmar & Rosemary Hanks.)
Germany
Finland
Portugal
Even though Randall Bradford (son-in-law of David & Donna Dalton) is from Provo, he represented Norway with his waffles.
Everyone was full of enthusiasm and happiness and no one went away hungry! It was so yummy!
